State Reps. Steve Malagari, Liz Hanbidge and Todd Stephens honored three Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association championship teams from North Penn High School on Monday.

Malagari, D-Montgomery, introduced the North Penn boys’ and girls’ water polo teams as well as the North Penn boys’ soccer teams to the House chamber to commemorate their 2019 championship seasons.

“Our community has been blessed in cheering on some of the state’s best teams this season,” Malagari said. “It is always a privilege to open the House door to our community’s young men and women, to celebrate accomplishments that have been years in the making. My intent is to shine a light on all the students and people in our community dedicated to making these impressive accomplishments possible.”

The North Penn girls’ water polo team clinched its sixth consecutive PIAA championship this season, while the boys’ water polo team won its third consecutive state championship.

The North Penn boys’ soccer team won the first state championship in the program’s history, and Malagari presented head coach Paul Duddy with a citation noting his 20-year career and his selection as the W. Gene Davis Memorial Award winner – earning Coach of the Year honors from the Pennsylvania Soccer Coaches Association.
