North Penn High School’s Paul Duddy Named Pennsylvania Soccer Coach of the Year

The North Penn School District (NPSD) is proud to announce that North Penn High School (NPHS) Boys’ Soccer Coach Paul Duddy has been honored with the 2019 W. Gene Davis Memorial Award as Coach of the Year in the  AAAA Male classification from the Pennsylvania Soccer Coaches Association.

Each year the Pennsylvania Soccer Coaches Association (PSCA) honors one of its members as coach of the year in each high school classification. According to PSCA,  the criterion for this honor is very demanding. The coach must demonstrate knowledge of the game through the understanding of the rules and have developed a sound coaching philosophy. They must have established good rapport with the team, officials and other coaches. Their conduct, as well as the conduct of the team, must represent the highest ideals of the game. They must also have exhibited involvement outside their high school program and be recognized by fellow coaches.

Duddy has been the head coach of the NPHS Boys’ Soccer team for the last 20 years, most recently leading the team to their first ever state championship title this past fall. The last four years have been historic for the Knights soccer squad, breaking records and setting milestones each year with Duddy leading the way. Before becoming a Knight, Duddy coached at neighboring school Lansdale Catholic High School and Temple University.

“It’s so enjoyable. We have such good young guys here that just being around them day in and day out is pretty cool. I think they keep me young,” said Duddy. “However, I couldn’t have had the success we’ve had without, first and foremost, our players and our amazing coaching staff, including Chris DePeppe, Pete Phiambolis and Jesse Scheetz.”

Coach Duddy will be honored for the PSCA Coach of the Year Award at a reception in Harrisburg in January 2020. Congratulations to Coach Duddy on this well-deserved honor.
