Multiple area fire companies responded to a fire at a three-story townhome in Montgomery Township on Sunday afternoon.
According to Battalion Chief Bill Wiegman, with the Fire Department of Montgomery Township, crews were dispatched to the 400 block of Amy Court at 4:40 p.m. for a report of a residential fire. Upon arrival, firefighters encountered heavy fire showing from the townhome.
“Units arrived to heavy fire showing from the second and third floors,” said Wiegman. “Companies engaged in an aggressive interior attack, then had to transition from an interior attack to a defensive attack due to increased fire conditions.”
Wiegman said that crews at the scene were able to prevent the fire from spreading to neighboring townhomes, and the fire was placed under control 40 minutes after arrival to the scene. As a result of the fire, the townhome suffered heavy damage to its second and third floors, and the sole occupant has since been displaced, according to Wiegman.

No injuries were reported, and the cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the Montgomery Township Fire Marshal’s Office, Wiegman said. The scene was cleared by 9:15 p.m.
