Crews Responding to Building Fire on Main Street in Lansdale

Area fire companies are on the scene of a building fire along the unit block of East Main Street in Lansdale Borough.

According to the Montgomery County Department of Public Safety, Fairmount Fire Company was dispatched to the scene at 9:04 a.m. for a report of a building fire. Sources tell North Penn Now that upon arrival, responders encountered a light smoke condition inside the building, but located a fire in the wall of the building a short time later.

The fire has since been put out, but firefighters remain on scene to make sure that the fire did not extend to other parts of the building, according to our sources.

The building, which is located at the intersection with Chestnut Street, contains one full apartment, several efficiency apartments and some retail space. The cause of the fire, as well as the damage caused, is unknown at this time.

No injuries have been reported.

In addition to the Fairmount Fire Company, units from the Fire Department of Montgomery Township, North Penn Volunteer Fire Company, Lansdale Borough Police Department and Volunteer Medical Service Corps of Lansdale assisted at the scene.
