An online fundraiser has been launched in an effort to assist a Hilltown man who lost his home and personal belongings in a fire on Monday night.
According to the Hilltown Township Police Department, area fire companies responded to the scene of a house fire near the intersection of Maregan Drive and Green Street early Monday evening. Though no injuries were reported, the interior and exterior of the home suffered heavy damage, forcing the displacement of the owner. The home is not salvageable, according to sources.
Hilltown Township Police were assisted at the scene by Silverdale, Sellersville, Perkasie, Perseverance and Telford fire companies. The cause of the fire has not been released at this time
A GoFundMe page was launched the following day by a woman named Alyssa McNamara, who said she is attempting to raise money to assist the owner—identified as Tony Weiss—in finding a new home and replacing all of his personal belongings. McNamara said Weiss and his two cats made it safely out of the home, but lost all of his clothing, supplies, personal items and more.
Weiss, a former Lansdale resident, used to own an auto shop near the intersection of West Main Street and North Cannon Avenue. To donate to the GoFundMe, click here.
