(Editor's note: the following is a press release from Montgomery Township.)
The Montgomery Township Board of Supervisors is pleased to
announce that at the board meeting on Aug. 12, the board voted unanimously
to appoint Carolyn McCreary as the Montgomery Township Manager Designee
effective Sept. 16. McCreary’s appointment follows a thorough four-month search
process conducted by outside consultants.
“After a rigorous recruitment and evaluation process, it became apparent to the board that both the breadth and depth of Ms. McCreary's skills, experience, and outstanding character, made her the ideal fit for the position of manager for our township,” said Michael J. Fox, Chairman of the Board of Supervisors.
McCreary comes to Montgomery Township with extensive municipal management experience, previously serving as accounting manager for Upper Gwynedd Township, director of finance for Lansdale Borough, and more recently, serving for 11 years as the township manager for Plumstead Township.
In addition to her municipal work experience, McCreary currently serves as the chair for the Perkasie Borough Planning Commission, as a member of the Bucks County Planning Commission, and as a board member for Mission Projects Fellowship. She brings over 25 years of municipal experience to her new role at Montgomery Township, with a strong background in management, land use planning, and finance and accounting.
McCreary received her bachelor of science degree in accounting from Gwynedd-Mercy College and master of public administration degree from Villanova University, and is an International City/County Management Association (ICMA) credentialed manager.
“I’m very grateful to the board of supervisors for choosing me to be their next township manager. Montgomery Township continues to be the gold standard for local government, and I am so fortunate to be presented with this opportunity,” said McCreary.
McCreary will work alongside the township’s current township manager, Larry Gregan, starting Sept. 16 through to the end of the year. Gregan will be retiring as of Jan. 1, 2020, having served the township in the position of finance director, and for the past nine years as township manager. McCreary will be officially appointed as township manager during the annual reorganization meeting on Jan. 6, 2020.
“As sad as I am to see Larry leave, I am excited to have hired someone as capable as Carolyn to succeed him as manager for Montgomery Township. Her wealth of municipal management experience and professional demeanor will serve her well in this role. I’m looking forward to working with her,” said Tanya Bamford, member of the Montgomery Township Board of Supervisors.
