Cyclist Struck by Vehicle Monday Night, Caught on Video

Lansdale Borough Police are emphasizing bicycle safety following the release of a video of a cyclist being struck by a vehicle on Monday night.

The incident occurred at 7:58 p.m. at the intersection of East Main Street and Greenwood Road, and involved a cyclist—who was riding against traffic—being struck by a vehicle, which caused him to flip onto the pavement.

“People, especially juveniles, often give the proverbial eye-roll whenever police discuss bicycle safety,” reads a statement from the Lansdale Borough Police Department, via Facebook. “Cyclists must adhere to the rules of the road the same as a motor vehicle operator, including riding with the flow of traffic, not against it.”

“This cyclist was extremely fortunate they did not sustain a more serious injury,” said police.

North Penn Now has reached out to Lansdale Borough Police Chief Michael Trail for more information about the incident. We will update this article when we receive a response.
