Roof Fire Damages Madison Station Apartments in Lansdale

UPDATE: April 9, 2:28 p.m. - The scene has been cleared, and the road is now open.

Original story follows...

Crews from area fire companies are currently on the scene of a roof fire at the Madison Station Apartment complex in Lansdale.

Members of the Fairmount Fire Company were deployed to the scene along the 300 block of Madison Street at 1:23 p.m. for a report of a fire on the roof of one of the buildings. Officials at the scene stated that the fire began at an air conditioning unit located on the roof. The fire was placed under control in roughly 10 minutes.

Though officials said there was minimal damage to the roof itself, the water used to extinguish the fire had entered the apartments below, causing an unspecified amount of damage. No injuries were reported at the scene.

Fire companies from Hatfield and Colmar, as well as units from the Lansdale Borough Police Department and Volunteer Medical Services Corps, assisted at the scene. Madison Street remains closed to Wood Street.
