Suspect Arrested in Lansdale Stabbing Incident

The Lansdale Borough Police Department has announced the arrest of 31-year-old Randall Stewart, in connection with the stabbing of a resident of the Broadmore Apartments in January.

Stewart, of the 700 block of South Broad Street, has been charged with aggravated assault, simple assault, recklessly endangering another person, possession of an instrument of crime, defiant trespass and loitering and prowling at night time, in connection with the incident.

The incident occurred during the evening of Jan. 25, when police responded to the 600 block of South Broad Street for a report of a stabbing. Upon arrival, police spoke with the victim—a 45-year-old male—who stated that he was stabbed in the back as he was entering the M Building of the apartment complex.

An initial search of the area—aided by K-9 assistance from the Whitemarsh Township Police Department—revealed a person of interest, but no arrest was made. Officials then released a description of the attacker to the public, in the hopes of locating his whereabouts.

The victim was taken from the scene via ambulance to a local hospital, and was expected to make a full recovery.

Stewart was arraigned by Magisterial District Judge Suzan Leonard, who set bail at $100,000 cash. He was then remanded to the Montgomery County Correctional Facility after failing to post bail. His next scheduled court appearance is a preliminary hearing on April 10 at 10 a.m. in front of Magisterial District Judge Ed Levine.

(Editor's note: All suspects and defendants are innocent until proven guilty. Should the defendant choose to issue a public statement, or is later found not guilty or has the charges dropped, we will update this article accordingly.)
