(The following is a press release from Lansdale Borough)
The Lansdale Parks and Recreation Department is excited to
welcome new Director Karl Lukens!
Karl comes to the department from Lower Providence Township, where he was the Director of Parks and Recreation for over ten years and managed the operation and maintenance of all park facilities (including 12 parks along with 106 acres of open space), coordinated the development and construction of a new football field, prepared the annual budget and marketed programs to the community.
“I look forward to getting out into the parks and meeting those people who utilize the park system, as well as those who participate in the many programs offered by the department,” said Lukens. “The Lansdale community has high expectations, and I plan to work with the team to continue providing innovative programming and maintaining the serene parks you expect.”
A Penn State graduate, Karl began his career in Abington Township and then went to Northampton Township as the Assistant Director of Parks and Recreation before getting the position as director in Lower Providence. He is a current member of the Pennsylvania Recreation and Park Society, as well as a recipient of multiple awards including two Excellence in Programming Awards, the Community Greening Award and a Municipal Environmental Award.
“I’m very excited about this opportunity,” said Lukens. “I can’t wait to get started in Lansdale and learn about your needs and wants from your Parks and Recreation Department.”
