The North Penn DUI Task Force has announced four arrests resulting from their DUI checkpoint on Friday evening.

According to a press release from the Hatfield Township Police Department, the task force arrested three drivers for alcohol-related DUI and another driver for a “violation of the drug act.” Four other drivers were removed from their vehicles due to elevated alcohol levels, but they were later released, the release states.

The sobriety checkpoint occurred during the evening of Sept. 21, along the 600 block of Harleysville Pike (Route 113) in Franconia Township, at “a location where alcohol has been a significant factor in motor vehicle contacts and crashes,” according to the release. Members of Hatfield Township, Lower Salford Township, Marlborough Township, Towamencin Township, Upper Gwynedd Township, Telford Borough and Lansdale Borough police departments assisted at the scene, along with member of the Souderton Ambulance Company and Telford Fire Company.

Anyone with questions concerning the sobriety checkpoint is urged to contact Corporal Michael Sloan of the Hatfield Police Department at 215-855-0903.
