North Penn School District has announced they will move to a full-day kindergarten schedule, following an 8 to 1 vote by the school board on Thursday night. Theresa Prykowski was the only board member to vote against the motion.
“Establishing a full-day kindergarten program is something that [the] administration has been looking at for several years now,” reads a release from the North Penn School District. “The half-day kindergarten model that NPSD currently uses gives our youngest learners less than three hours of instruction per day. We need to make sure our teachers have the time and resources necessary to reach and teach every child.”
The changeover to full day kindergarten will occur throughout all 13 of the school district’s elementary schools, beginning with the 2019-2020 school year.
