Representative Todd Stephens and the Pennsylvania Attorney General’s Office will host an information session about cyber security for parents and children on Thursday, Sept. 20, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Montgomery Township Community and Recreation Center.
“[We want] parents to understand the risk that can be had online,” said Clarice Shillinger, the constituent outreach coordinator for Todd Stephens. “We also want the children to understand that, although the World Wide Web is a wonderful tool, it also can be dangerous and using safety is extremely important.”
The event came about due to a need for cyber security following an increase of thieves and predators online, according to Stephens' office. Rep. Stephens and the attorney general’s office will provide tips for staying secure while navigating the internet. Kids are welcome to attend with their parents. Other state representatives have held similar cyber security seminars in the past.
