A Montgomery Township man is facing multiple charges following a bizarre series of events that began with an alleged domestic incident at a gas station, and ended with him resisting arrest at a police station.

Brandon Leon, 25, of Montgomery Township, has been charged with resisting arrest, driving under the influence of a controlled substance, disorderly conduct and harassment in connection with the incident on Aug. 31.

According to the affidavit of probable cause, the Montgomery Township Police Department was dispatched to Speedway Gas Station along the 700 block of Bethlehem Pike for a report of a domestic incident between Leon and an adult female victim. The domestic incident was resolved on scene with no arrests made, and the victim was taken to the Montgomery Township Police Department in order to speak with a domestic violence advocate. Shortly after, Leon arrived to the police station, went in the lobby, took the victims bag and instructed her to leave with him, the report states.

Leon—who was described as very sweaty, with wide-open eyes, foam at the corners of his mouth and  grinding his teeth— was escorted outside by multiple police officers, where he was instructed to leave, according to the report. Leon then began screaming at the victim to leave with him, resulting in multiple instructions from police to leave the premises and cease further harassment of the victim, the report states.

At that time, police said that Leon attempted to enter his vehicle, but after struggling with opening the driver’s side door, he crawled through the window to gain entry. He began to back out, but then stopped and started screaming at the victim again, the report states. The victim again informed Leon that she did not want to leave with him, which again resulted in police instructing him to leave, according to the report. At that time, the report describes Leon as having a “thousand yard stare,” adding that he went from extreme anger to calm on multiple occasions.

The report states that when Leon finally decided to leave, he missed his gear shifts multiple times, with police noting that the car went from reverse to neutral to drive several times. He also revved the engine with police in close proximity, the report states.

Police then informed Leon that he was under arrest, at which point he grasped the steering wheel with both hands and refused to exit the vehicle, according to the report. Multiple officers then grabbed him by his neck and arms and removed him from the vehicle, noting once he was secured that they observed a white, powdery substance around his right nostril, the report states.

Leon was arraigned in front of Magisterial District Court Judge Andrea Duffy, who set bail at $10,000 unsecured. He also has a preliminary hearing in front of Magisterial District Judge Ed Levine on Sept. 12 on charges of defiant trespass and harassment, stemming from an unrelated incident that occurred on June 20 in Towamencin.
