A Hatfield woman and a Pottsville man are facing multiple drug charges following a traffic stop in Lansdale during the evening of Aug. 24.
Nicole Lauro, 29, and George Mullen, 30, are facing a felony charge of “manufacture, delivery, or possession with intent to manufacture or deliver,” along with misdemeanor charges of “intentional possession of a controlled substance by person not registered,” “marijuana-small amount personal use,” “use/possession of drug paraphernalia” and “delivery/intent to delivery drug paraphernalia” in connection with the incident.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, the incident occurred at 10:22 p.m. along the 300 block of North Broad Street in Lansdale, when Lansdale Borough Police Officer Richard Kruppenbach observed a blue Jeep Cherokee traveling northbound with no headlights on. Upon stopping the vehicle, Kruppenbach noted a strong smell of marijuana emanating from the vehicle while speaking to Lauro, who was driving. Police then initiated a search of the vehicle, which uncovered 24 grams of marijuana, 34 grams of cocaine, packaging materials, drug paraphernalia and $950 wrapped in a rubber band, from a bag under the front passenger seat where Mullen was sitting, according to the report.
Both Lauro and Mullen were arrested and taken into custody. They were arraigned the following afternoon, and released after posting $5,000 bail. Their next scheduled court appearance is a preliminary hearing with Magisterial Judge Ed Levine on Oct. 2 at 3:15 p.m.
