A new martial arts academy is now open in Lansdale. IEF Martial Arts Academy, owned by Master Ian Fusco, is located in The Pavilion Shopping Center on Broad Street in Lansdale.
While the grand opening is not until November, the academy is open for people to try a free two-week class. There will be an grand opening and open house for the community to showcase what the academy does and what they offer.
Fusco has been practicing martial arts for about 47 years. He began training with his dad and moved around to various locations and teachers. While he knows a variety of martial arts, his specialty is Kung Fu.
While Fusco teaches Kung Fu, he tries to teach his students to apply what they learn in class to their lives. He calls this “Kung Fu Life.” The academy teaches students of all ages and abilities, even if a person has physical limitations.
“If I could help someone understand themselves better so that they can get through their day and enjoy their day, then I’ve accomplished my journey with them as much as I could,” said Fusco.
Fusco also has a martial arts retail store in North Wales. The store was an academy for 15 years, but he moved across the street the train tracks to a handicap-accessible building and North Wales made him convert to a retail store due to zoning issues.
Fusco enjoys the vibrancy and vitality of the Lansdale and is looking forward to helping the residents of the community improve their lives with Kung Fu Life, maximizing their ability to live their best lives and go out and help others do the same.
“The goal is to really serve the public and find a way to reach as many people as possible and help them along their journey,” said Fusco.
