The intersection of Orvilla and Cowpath roads in Hatfield will be getting a much-needed realignment, courtesy of $1.9 million in funding that was announced by Governor Tom Wolf’s office on Tuesday.

The funding — which officially totals $1,919,000 — is to be used to realign the intersection, as well as install sidewalks and ADA-compliant pedestrian accommodations. According to Hatfield Township, 26,000 vehicles travel through the intersection each day.

"With these resources, we can improve transportation connections down to the local level and make a big difference for communities,” said Wolf. "These investments reflect our commitment to all modes of transportation, both statewide and locally.”

The realignment is one of 42 projects that were selected to receive funding from the state’s Multimodal Transportation Fund, which will begin another round of accepting applications for grant funding on Oct. 5. Just outside of the North Penn area, Horsham and Lower Gwynedd townships also received funding for road projects and problematic intersections.
