Area Police ‘Go Pink’ for Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Several police departments in the North Penn area will don a familiar shade of pink this month, as they seek to honor victims and raise awareness for Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

“So many families have been touched by this disease, and we are hoping our awareness effort will play some part in bringing others in to the fight against it,” said the Hatfield Township Police Department, which will be wearing pink badges for the month of October. “Please show your support for all who suffer with this dreadful disease. It’s a small effort in a huge battle.”

In addition to the Hatfield Township Police Department, patrol cars from the Lansdale Borough Police Department will feature a pink ribbon. Members of the Upper Gwynedd Township Police Department will also wear pink badges, as well as shoulder patches with pink wording and highlights.

“Our intent is to show that we stand shoulder to shoulder with our grandmothers, mothers, sisters, aunts and women everywhere against this insidious disease,” said the Upper Gwynedd Township Police Department, in a statement on Facebook. Their statement adds that the department’s newest officer, Evan Meoli, will be giving away the limited edition patches on a first come, first serve basis, until supplies run out.

The “Go Pink” initiative will run throughout the month of October, ending on Halloween.
