Fischer’s Park To Host Towamencin Holiday Lights Festival

(Editor's note: North Penn Now has been informed that due to weather, the event below has been cancelled)

Towamencin Township will hold its annual Holiday Lights Festival this Saturday.

The festival, including the second annual tree lighting, will take place at Fischer’s Park on Saturday from 4:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

According to Courtney Marengo, Towamencin Township’s events facilitator, it is estimated that the event started around 1998 when each Towamencin Township committee—along with other community organizations—would decorate trees at Fischer’s Park and winners were selected from the decorated trees. After discussions of how to grow the event, the township added carriage rides.

“It has since evolved into the bigger entertainment festival you have experienced,” said Marengo.

The event this year will feature live entertainment, free refreshments provided by the Boy Scouts, and trees decorated by the Girl Scouts. There will also be wagon rides. Since the small wagon rides are sold out, there are walk-ons available only for the large wagons, and cash or checks are the only accepted forms of payment. The carriage rides are $5 and lap riders are free.

“This is such a special event for our community,” said Marengo.  “We do a tree lighting like no other in the area.”

Below is the schedule of events for the festival.
