Work To Begin On Lansdale Freight House

The Lansdale Freight House.

Work on the Lansdale Freight House, located at the intersection of South Broad and Vine streets, will begin this week, according to a post on the Lansdale Facebook page.

The work, which is set to begin on Thursday, will include the removal of overhead steel and deck at the Freight House, and will help make way for improvements to the Liberty Bell Trail. The work will not disrupt the traffic along Broad Street.

The Freight House was built in 1902 and was purchased by Discover Lansdale in 2016 after several years of being unused and ignored. Since then, plans have been in the works to restore it and have it be used for civic events and historical displays.

Discover Lansdale has done several fundraising events to restore the building. There have also been open calls for volunteers to help in the restoration process. Donations can be made online to aid in the restoration process.
