A weekend charity concert by three local bands was deemed a success by organizers, which means there will be added smiles for children in need on Christmas morning.
The Punk Rock Toys for Tots show was held on Saturday evening at the North Penn Social Club, located at 141 S. Main St. in North Wales, and drew more than 100 people. The show featured the bands Merit, Epic T’s and first time performers, Vertebrae. The entry fee was $5, but could be waived if guests brought a toy to donate.
In addition to raising nearly 100 toys to be donated to Toys for Tots, the show also produced another $300 in cash donations.
Nick Grassi, who performed twice during the show as the drummer for both Merit and Epic T’s, coordinated the involvement of Toys for Tots, according to show organizer Derek Calhoun.
“[Nick] really hooked it up. He was instrumental in the whole thing,” said Calhoun. “We wanted to do something for others this holiday season, and I’m glad we found a good cause.”
