Lansdale Police Raise $2,300 For Charity with No Shave November

Lansdale Police Department’s “Let It Grow” event for No Shave November raised almost $2,300 for Variety Children’s Charity.

The police department relaxed its no facial hair requirement for the month of November so that officers could compete to see who could grow the best beard. Female officers were allowed to put a color streak in their hair. The cost for each officer to enter was $35, with the money going to support Variety Club.

On Nov. 29, the police department held an event at Boardroom Spirits where attendees could vote for their favorite facial hair using purchased tickets. The money raised from the tickets, which were used for voting and for raffles, also went to support Variety Club. This year, Lansdale Police Chief Michael Trail won, marking his third win since the event’s inception.

Trail told the officers that if they could raise more than $1,600 between the entries and the event, they would be able to keep their facial hair through December. Since they surpassed the amount, the offer stands.

“Variety so appreciates the partnership we have with the LPD,” said Mary Fuller, vice president of Lansdale Borough Council and Variety Club employee. “Each year, this event brings the Lansdale community together to support an important cause while having a great time at one of the local establishments. It’s fun to see the LPD vie for the coveted Let It Grow trophy!”
