The North Penn DUI Task Force has announced five arrests resulting from their DUI checkpoint on Friday evening.
According to a press release from the Hatfield Township Police Department, the task force arrested two drivers for alcohol-related DUI and another two drivers for drug possession and drug-related DUI. A fifth driver was removed from their vehicle and charged with drug possession as well, the release states.
The sobriety checkpoint occurred during the evening of Aug. 24, along Sumneytown Pike in Towamencin Township, at “a location where alcohol has been a significant factor in traffic arrests and contacts,” according to the release. Members of the Volunteer Services Medical Corps joined police from Lower Salford Township, Hatfield Township, Lansdale Borough, North Wales Borough, Marlborough Township and Franconia Township police departments in assisting at the scene.
