Hatfield Man Stole Sex Toys from Adult World Before Fleeing to Nearby Hotel, Police Say
A Hatfield Township man is facing felony robbery charges
after he allegedly stole sex toys from Adult World in Montgomery Township then
fled to a nearby hotel.
Police said 29-year-old Jacob McFarland entered Adult World
around 8:30 p.m. on Dec. 27, at which point he selected a “Fleshlight” and an “AutoBlow AI,” then proceeded to exit the store without paying. A store clerk attempted
to stop McFarland in the parking lot, however McFarland threatened to stab him,
prompting the clerk to let him go, according to the criminal complaint.
The complaint states the clerk was able to positively
identify the suspect as McFarland due to McFarland recently applying for a
position at the store. Total value of the stolen items was $345.98, according
to the complaint.
Several minutes after arriving to the scene, police located
McFarland at the Staybridge Suites along the 100 block of Garden Golf Boulevard,
the report states. Police said McFarland was subsequently taken into custody,
at which point they discovered he had a knife on his person.
As a result of the incident, McFarland has been charged with
one count of felony robbery, along with misdemeanor counts of retail theft,
receiving stolen property and making terroristic threats. He is currently in
custody at the Montgomery County Correctional Facility in lieu of $5,000 cash
bail.
All suspects and defendants are innocent until proven
guilty. This story was compiled using court records and the affidavit of
probable cause.
