The 40-year-old ex-girlfriend of a Merck West Point campus contractor is facing misdemeanor charges of unlawful dissemination of an intimate image and harassment after she allegedly posted lewd flyers of her ex-boyfriend on numerous cars on the Upper Gwynedd property near Halloween last year.

A summons was issued April 2 for the arrest of Hope A. Clavon aka Hope Johnson, of Fries Mill Road in Turnersville NJ, according to a criminal complaint issued by Upper Gwynedd Township Police. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for May 2 before Magisterial District Judge Suzan Leonard.

Police said they received a phone call from the alleged victim on Oct. 31, 2023, who told them Merck West Point security contacted him to say dozens of obscene flyers were on cars in the parking lot. The man told police he recently broke up with Clavon, claiming he angered her, police said.

The alleged victim told police he was familiar with the photograph and Clavon is the only one to whom he had sent the selfie on the flyer, according to the complaint.

Merck security told police that on Oct. 27, 2023, they found two different flyers on about 12 cars. The first flyer, according to the complaint, stated, “YOUR (sic) NOT EVEN A MAN USING A WOMAN BEGGING FOR GAS AND TOLL MONEY FOR THE WEEK … TRUE DEFINITION OF A BUM,” and the second flyer stated, “(Alleged victim) IS A B**** ASS N***** DON’T EVER MESS WITH ME OR MY KIDS! YOU HOMELESS BUM!!”

Upper Gwynedd Police obtained a search warrant for Clavon’s cell phone records, which shows subscriber information, lists of calls, and cell towers used by the phone, police said, and the information allegedly indicated Clavon’s phone was in and around the area of Merck between 9:57 a.m. and 12:10 p.m. on Oct. 27, 2023.

When police spoke to Clavon, she allegedly said she was in the area of Merck and Lansdale on Oct. 27, 2023, but for an unrelated reason, according to the complaint. Based on cellular data, statements from the alleged victim, Clavon’s knowledge of the alleged victim’s work location and her access to the photograph, police issued a summons for Clavon, police said.

All suspects and defendants are innocent until proven guilty. This story was compiled using public court records.
