A Bucks County man is facing a felony count each of retail theft and receiving stolen property after allegedly stealing $300 in sports cards from the Walmart in Hilltown on April 2, police said.

Hilltown Township Police were dispatched to the Walmart at 1515 Bethlehem Pike at 11:32 a.m. for a report of a retail theft that just occurred, police said.

Police said the alleged thief – identified later as Ivan Phillip Lieberman, 41, of Knox Court, Warwick – took $299.88 worth of sports cards and then fled the scene in a gold Subaru. A search of the Subaru’s license plate came back to Lieberman, authorities said. Police also viewed a security video showing the alleged theft.

Hilltown Township Police contacted Warwick Township Police to respond to Lieberman’s home to identify him as the alleged thief, police said. Minutes later, Warrington Township Police contacted Hilltown Police to tell them Lieberman’s Subaru was parked in their town’s Walmart lot, police said.

Hilltown Township Police asked Warrington Township officers to identify Lieberman as the driver of the vehicle, which they confirmed, police said.

Warrington Township Police found multiple sports cards allegedly in Lieberman’s car in plain view, according to the complaint.

Lieberman was arrested by Warrington Township Police, and a search of Lieberman’s criminal history showed numerous prior retail theft convictions, per the affidavit.

Lieberman was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Stacy Wertman on April 2, who set bail at 10% of $50,000 cash, according to court documents. A preliminary hearing occurred Monday morning before Wertman, and Lieberman remains in Bucks County jail, per court records.

All suspects and defendants are innocent until proven guilty. This story was compiled using public court records.
